American patchwork quilting is a diverse term comprising of a number of various types of quilting, unique in fabric and style based on the various ethnicity of the American population. Native Americans have incorporated their culture into their styles. Created from patchwork diamonds, the Morning Star quilts offer an eight pointed star which fills the quilt.
The Amish are famous for their geometric designs whereas African National quilters share their creativity by using powerful contrasting tones and large scale patterns. Hawaiian patchwork designs are also unique from the other types of National patchwork quilting; the common pattern is a circular recurring sequence, known as the “Snowflake” exactly where colors are often limited to two or three.
