As we were exploring the island of Ireland we came across this massive complex called St. Lomans in Mullingar, Ireland. Built in 1886 and over a half a mile in length. The compound included numerous other buildings on a vast expanse of land estimated to be hundreds of acres in size including a strange building across the west side called the “Summer Cottage”. We did go inside the main building however they were extremely strict about not allowing photography of ankind. This place is not like your typical mental hospital but something right our of Hollywood horror film. It was hard to believe these places exist. We did find out that Ireland has immense amount of places like this sponsored by the government. This was the largest. The design they call it is “Institutional Gothic”.
