Janjawid attack Darfur

Posted on December 16th, 2009 by admin

video uploaded from my mobile phone, sorry for poor quality, original oil painting entitled: “Janjaweed attack Darfur”, as a tribute to the victims. Janjawid means “devil on horse”.

Fighting between pro-government militias and rebels in Darfur has led to the deaths of more than 200,000 people and displaced 2.5 million since February 2003. American Purgatory: Political asylum in the age of terrorism
http://www.americanpurgatory.org

It’s a process that is necessarily rigorous, but for those going through it, it can seem like a contradiction to their vision of the US: more than heaven–a purgatory of sorts.

Palestinian refugees in Iceland

Posted on October 21st, 2009 by admin

Many Palestinians living in Iraq were forced to flee to refugee camps after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. They still live in desperate conditions on the Iraq-Syrian border, unable to return to Baghdad or flee to neighbouring countries. Some, however, have found asylum elsewhere in countries far from home indeed, as far as Iceland.
