As the home office does not recognise me as a refugee and did not believe my asylum application, can they refuse me entry should I travel to my former country for a funeral or a memorial?
You would need to apply for a travel document, which would most likely be endorsed "valid for travel to all countries except *****" Also, if you travelled there now it would very likely affect any future application for extension of DLR, or a potential future fresh asylum application.

Shopping are we?
Asylum is not a ‘the best deal I can get’ thing! That would make you an economic benefit scrounger?

If you had to flee your country in fear of your life how can you simply go back again for a funeral? I’m not surprised your asylum claim was refused, it sounds totally bogus to me. If you life was really in danger in your own country you would not be in any hurry to go back!!!
Asylum is for those who have genuinely had to flee from their homeland in fear of their life. If you feel safe enough to return to your country to attend a funeral then you couldn’t have been in that much danger there could you?
Asylum is not a "cheap and easy" way to get into the UK.
