Russian army FSB officer flees to Georgia asking for political asylum
The issue whether the Georgian Ministry of Refugees and Settlement will grant the Russian soldier Vitaliy Khripun a refugee status will be determined within 4 month-term.
The ministry representatives will be interviewing Khripun born in 1984 during this period. The soldier has served in the Russian army dislocated in Georgias breakaway region of South Ossetia since 2008.
Khripun quit the Russian army on December 21 naming political grounds as a reason, and asked the Georgian authorities for help. This is the third case when a Russian soldier escapes from the occupant military contingent.
