Posted on March 9th, 2010 by admin

The identities of three asylum seekers, who died after they jumped from a high-rise block of flats in Glasgow, have still not been disclosed by the Scottish police. The bodies of the victims – thought to be from either Russia or Kosovo – were found at the bottom of a 31-storey high-rise on Sunday. With more we are now joined by our UK correspondent Laura Emmett.

asylum seekers?

Posted on February 25th, 2010 by admin

why the hell should they come into our country and take all our benifits and house etc wen there r real people that want a job but cant get one cos of all these asylum seekers r doing it for less money it makes me feel sick to be british, wat the hell has this country come to wen we cant sort out our imigration system, and in glasgow the majority of unemployed people can not get employed cos of of these people come in and take all of the benifits that all the armed forces people work for god bless there soles, they must go out to these war zones come home and wonder what the hell went wong with there country while they were away, what a rubbish country do you agree or not
For your information i am employed, I am a current member of HM Forces and spend most of my life away from my family sorting out everybody else’s problems. So before certain people start having a pop may i ask a question? are you a desk jockey with great ideas and absoloutely no idea about the real world(your own little world doesn’t count). Have you ever walked down a street in UK in military uniform and been spat at by somebody who shouldn’t even be here.

i apologise for the spelling mistakes ang grammer but when the Q was posted i was quite tipsy and annoyed after watching a documentary on this subject

You really are ignorant, aren’t you?

Have you had benefits removed and been thrown out of your house? Well, how have they taken your benefits and houses?

Asylum seekers are, by law, not allowed to work while their cases are being heard. So they aren’t taking anyone’s job.

In Glasgow, the majority of unemployed can’t get employment because they don’t have the skills that employers are looking for.

So, are asylum seekers drawing benefits, or are they working because you seem confused about this?

Perhaps the armed forces are fighting for a free and tolerant United Kingdom – have you asked them all?

I suspect you are unemployed and without qualifications to get you a job. But you find that blaming asylum seekers for your plight absolves you from any responsibility for your situation, so you don’t have to make any effort. Very convenient.

There are serious questions to be asked about immigration, but your ignorant rant misses the point completely.

If it’s any consolation, there is one thing we agree on – I feel sick that you’re British, too.

GAS AND PROUD: I don’t allow IM and e-mail, because I don’t want foul mouthed abuse like yours in the private domain.

I’d like it in public, so everyone can see it.

I don’t e-mail people here, I do it all publicly. There’s nothing I want to say to any individual, that I’m not happy for everyone to read. So if you want to e-mail me, do it in public by editing your comment.

Hell Or High Water – Sri Lanka

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

February 2010
If they stay they face intimidation and violence. If they go they run the gauntlet of naval controls and treacherous seas. Yet the Tamils of Sri Lanka are taking the high water over the at home.
If there is an opportunity to leave Sri Lanka I will not hesitate, even if it poses a risk to my life. The Tamil Tigers – both a liberation army and a terrorist group fighting for a separate homeland in Sri Lanka was all but wiped out by the Sri Lankan army last year in a bloodbath that shocked the world. Former UN spokesman, Gordon Weiss, believes that Tamil civilians were also targeted: about 300,000 civilians, plus the Tamil Tiger forces, were trapped in an area about the size of Central Park. According to Weiss, the Sri Lankan authorities deliberately underestimated the number of trapped civilians, as a ploy to allow the government to get on with its business. Tamil Civilians who survived the offensive have been relegated to camps and accused of spurious crimes. Theyre now risking everything to find asylum. Asylum seekers are drug dealers and traffickers, dismisses President Rajapaksa, now that the Tigers have been destroyed, national unity will prevail. Yet the thousands of Tamil civilians prepared to flee their families and risk their life savings on a dangerous journey, tell a different story.
