How did the neighborhood of Asylum Hill in Hartford, Connecticut get its name?

Posted on March 9th, 2010 by admin

Well, I was just messing around on the computer, looking for a good setting for a story of mine. I began looking through the towns of Connecticut, and a certain name caught my eye: Asylum Hill. I looked all through the history, and I can’t find out where it got its name. Does anyone know, and would you please give me a website?

Originally Lords hill. In 1807 an Asylum (school) for the education of the blind and deaf. So it became Asylum Hill.http://hartford.omaxfield.com/asylum.html
