asylum seekers?
Posted on February 25th, 2010 by admin
why the hell should they come into our country and take all our benifits and house etc wen there r real people that want a job but cant get one cos of all these asylum seekers r doing it for less money it makes me feel sick to be british, wat the hell has this country come to wen we cant sort out our imigration system, and in glasgow the majority of unemployed people can not get employed cos of of these people come in and take all of the benifits that all the armed forces people work for god bless there soles, they must go out to these war zones come home and wonder what the hell went wong with there country while they were away, what a rubbish country do you agree or not
For your information i am employed, I am a current member of HM Forces and spend most of my life away from my family sorting out everybody else’s problems. So before certain people start having a pop may i ask a question? are you a desk jockey with great ideas and absoloutely no idea about the real world(your own little world doesn’t count). Have you ever walked down a street in UK in military uniform and been spat at by somebody who shouldn’t even be here.
i apologise for the spelling mistakes ang grammer but when the Q was posted i was quite tipsy and annoyed after watching a documentary on this subject
You really are ignorant, aren’t you?
Have you had benefits removed and been thrown out of your house? Well, how have they taken your benefits and houses?
Asylum seekers are, by law, not allowed to work while their cases are being heard. So they aren’t taking anyone’s job.
In Glasgow, the majority of unemployed can’t get employment because they don’t have the skills that employers are looking for.
So, are asylum seekers drawing benefits, or are they working because you seem confused about this?
Perhaps the armed forces are fighting for a free and tolerant United Kingdom – have you asked them all?
I suspect you are unemployed and without qualifications to get you a job. But you find that blaming asylum seekers for your plight absolves you from any responsibility for your situation, so you don’t have to make any effort. Very convenient.
There are serious questions to be asked about immigration, but your ignorant rant misses the point completely.
If it’s any consolation, there is one thing we agree on – I feel sick that you’re British, too.
GAS AND PROUD: I don’t allow IM and e-mail, because I don’t want foul mouthed abuse like yours in the private domain.
I’d like it in public, so everyone can see it.
I don’t e-mail people here, I do it all publicly. There’s nothing I want to say to any individual, that I’m not happy for everyone to read. So if you want to e-mail me, do it in public by editing your comment.

I think Britain should accept genuine asylum seekers. However, I believe the following provisions are necessary:
1) They are detained until their case has been assessed – if they are genuinely fleeing persecution they would be grateful for our hospitality. The detention need not be unpleasant and they should be allowed access to medical care, a gym, etc.
2) We have a quota that must not be exceeded, they are being supported by our taxes – we donĀ“t have infinite resources.
3) Once deemed safe to return, the asylum seeker must return to their country of origin.

True asylum seekers deserve our help, they are in trouble their lives are at risk and it is our duty to help them.
However, I do not think that we should help everyone, nor should any country have to take other nationalities if it impedes their economy, such as what has happened in the UK.
That being said, it is the fault of our government for never adjusting the immigration laws to fit the ease at which people can travel these days.
Good luck to you all, I am off to the States lol

What I don’t understand is we are like the only country who lets assuylum seekers get away with this. All other countries have good systems not only for immigration but for emirgrants as well. Go back a couple of hundrend years and we were one of the most powerful countries in the world now look what we’ve become!! In a way I am ashamed to be British and hopefully will move out the country later on in life!

No I don’t agree. Mostly, Brits are not unemployed because of immigrants (asylum-seekers mostly aren’t allowed to work – immigrants mostly can’t get benefits). They are unemployed because they don’t have the skills or the flexibility or the get up and go to find jobs.
You also forget that nearly as many Brits have gone abroad as foreigners have come here. Migration is a two-way street.

its because of hindered years Britain occupied most part of the world (and still doing it, in Iraq, Afghanistan and so on) and brought all wealth from those countries. And when very small number of asylum seekers come to UK and having a benefit here its nothing to compare with UK done or doing with the other part of the world.

i do agree with you to a point. these people will work for almost nothing in our country because where they live our weekly pay packet amounts to months of there regular pay, but this country have made it so comfortable for people to live off benefits that even if they were to break even if they went out to work they wont do it. i have worked full time since the week after i left school, over 30 yrs ago. i gave up work 2 yrs ago because i couldn’t,t afford childcare for my 2 babies. instead of sitting on my backside i decided to retrain and have been attending college full-time as well as looking after my 3 children and partner who works full-time. i am now about to enter my 3rd yr but because it is at HNC level all the funding has changed and SAAS now provide funding for my studies, but i have now been informed that although i have been receiving childcare payments for the past 2yrs i am no longer entitled to any form of help, ie grant or loan, because i am not a single parent. the point i am making is that yes i agree that asylum seekers are a big problem but they are not causing the problems of unemployment, lazy, idle, ignorant people are the problem. also when are the people who have paid into the country going to get a little back, because all i can see is those who don,t want, being forced to do, and us who want being stopped from doing.

I think that if we can help people who have lose there homes and are in danger help them but do they always have to come to the UK cant they say in France, guess what NO because it is hard to stay there and they don’t get a nice home to live in they get put into camps no cash there…..
I think that anybody who lives in the UK should only be able to get state help if they have put into the pot, there are far to many people who claim and have never worked or gone onto further education IE left school at 14 onwards don’t want to work, and sit out in the the sun when we have it and drink, i have worked since been 16, even when my children were born i was back at work six weeks later, i have decide to go back to H;E and cant because of the cut in wage and guess what i cant claim anything because i would be in full time education, but i cant get a student grant because am not at uni. THE UK IS CRAP. I have put into the pot and don’t get help, maybe i should go live in another country and then come back as a asylum

sorry, wow, your question has no stopping….
blah, blah, blah! Its hard to read!
Yes, do something about those spelling mistakes, I would be embarrassed.
secondly, you are confusing Asylum seekers with immigrants, in general. Not all immigration is bad, but I can see what you are talking about!
Before you proceed in criticising again, learn to spell and express yourself properly! sorry!

part of this undercover war political warfare is to rape and plunder countries, britain is plundering poland of the talent poland needs to biuld herself up, by bringing them here, like the ancient israelites they are being scattered from their homelands, the brits are also scattering because of the mess made in their homeland, the manipulation here is to rid nations of their own sences of loyalty to their own, this makes those nations easy to capture and keep under control, for the new one world order, this is done by convincing all, that money is god. and one would do better elsewhere, the e. u. just has to make sure the leaders of these nations are given ample gravytrain shares to help them surrender easyer. the immigrant himself who is probably broke, is just anouther manipulated being. its strategic warfare to weeken the nations of their heart and soul, and make them economic baffoons.

Such wanton cruelty to the comma, the full stop and the apostrophe.
Anyway – no, I don’t agree with you. Asylum seekers are eligible for no more benefits than an unemployed briton. Employers are free to hire the person who most suits their requirements, whether they were born here or not. Immigrants with jobs contribute to the economy by way of taxation. The vast majority of Britain’s benefit recipients are chronically-unemployable british, who’ve never contributed a bean in their lives.
People "can’t get a job" because they’re not as good as the other applicants. An immigrant doesn’t "steal" a job – the employer gives it to them over the other guy. To use the word "steal" would imply that the job would belong to any given applicant by default, which is not the case.
So no, I don’t agree with you, because you’re flat-out wrong.

So, you think being in uniform and parading your unlawful terror upon people in other countries makes a real contribution. You nutter.
And you think all asylum seekers are parasites, whileyu are the one murdering and robbing from people in their own countries abroad, you moron.
And you are not aware that the wars you create and take part in are not responsible for people needing to seek a safe place elsewhere, you really are army material.
Dumb, in uniform, with a gun and killing innocent people aboad, and then you complain of them coming here.
Are you totally without a brain. When yu leave the army, join the BNP, you will feel right at home there, with all the other mindless yobs.

As an American from across the pond living in the colonies I am saddened to hear your words. I always thought the Brits had a good grip on things and we may learn from your example.
We have learned something. We have learned to be cautious in granting political asylum to all who have migrated here legally or illegally.
What enrages me and concerns me is the disrespect of men and women in uniform. We (the silent majority who support men in women in uniform) respect the views of others even if we are not in agreement. However, how can you respect those who show no respect for people in uniform? To respect that view… spitting on a person who is trying to give back to their country is an oximoron. They want respect but refuse to show any themselves???
For their own safety, ayslum seekers should be held in detention, out of direct public contact until their case has been heard. Asylum seekers shouldn’t be given any right of the host nation until a descision about their case has been reached.

If an asylum seeker is fleeing their country for their own safety, doesn’t the host nation have an obligation to provide that safety until a descision about their case has been reached. And… should the host nations keep the asylum seeker segragated and out of direct public contact until a descision is made.
My point is… until their case is heard, they have no rights, no privlages, nothing.

Firstly, asylum seekers cannot claim benefits or work until they have received their leave to remain in th UK and as such are given refugee status. They survive on an absolute pitence until then, so whilst I disagree with what I think your point is meant to be, I don’t think you even understand the situation properly and the processes that takes someone from asylum seeker to refugee. Many asylum seekers never receive leave to remain and are sent back to their country of origin if our government do not deem their claim for asylum as legitimate or think they have no grounds for asylum.
Secondly, asylum seekers have every right to seek asylum from persecution, torture and threats of death. As one of the richest and most powerful countries in the world it is our responsibility to accomodate those running from persecution. Just remember, we sent away many jews before the outbreak of the second world war back to the death camps; we should be ashamed of this. Are you happy for people to be sent back to countries such as Zimbabwe where many would certainly be murdered upon their return? The 1951 UN Convention on refugees was signed by 95 states, including Britain in the aftermath of the Second World War. The true horror of the millions of Jews and others who were massacred having failed to secure refuge abroad had come to light and the signatories of the Convention, including the UK, vowed to protect refugees so that such a tragedy would never happen again.
However, horrific violations of human rights continue to take place on a daily basis in scores of countries around the world. If people are threatened, imprisoned, tortured or their life is placed in danger, it is their right to go to another country and seek protection under this Convention. It may be their only hope.
Count yourself lucky that you live in a country where you can express your views, where campaigning for democracy will not see you locked up and tortured, or even murdered, to act without fear of retribution or death.
