I need some true insane asylum stories?

I’ve been looking for some true horror stories about insane asylums of the past. Stuff about torture, human experiments, etc. If anyone can post some websites or books that you know of I’d appreciate it a lot. I’m thinking about making a movie and need some good and true resources.

You could watch " Bedlam " made in 1946 and starring Boris Karloff which may have been based on real life things like the girl who was forced to be admitted even though she was sane
