Why do Serb propagandists use California or New Mexico as an example when comparing the Kosovo situation?

When in reality they are not even remotely close. They claim that the situation in Kosovo is like Mexican immigrants in those states whom outnumbered the natives and now seek independence. Here is why it not the same:
1. Kosovo has always had an Albanian element to it, perhaps not with these numbers as you see today but Albanians have always been natives in Kosovo even when Slavs came down from the other Carpathian mountains. It was never clear cut if it was part of which country.
2. No mass exodus has ever been recorded in history where Albanians immigrated from Albania proper into Kosovo especially post WWII, or illegal crossing of any kind. Even the few dozen lucky ones that escaped Albania were give political asylum in other countries.
3. Albania had a chance after WWII to join Yugoslavia but risked war not to and Albanians had no reason to move to Kosovo en mass as claimed by Serb bigots. Both countries were dirt poor and both devastated by the great war.
4. If Mexican-American took a vote never in a million years will they vote to split from the USA. The USA is the reason they entered those lands in the first place. Because in the US the individual rights of a human being are valued, while in Yugoslavia Albanians were second class citizens.
5. Look at Puerto Ricans they have had many refferendums and never succeseed and they are 90% Hispanic and with their own language, culture and all but they failed to come up with the needed results democratically and they did do it the US and the world would honor they wishes and not threaten war Serbia is doing.
All in Serbia wants Kosovo but does not want it’s inhabitants and if left unchecked it deport all of them illegally by force and this why the have no international support for their cause or sympathy.
Hi Vivet, The native Americans experienced genocide. But today they have their own reservations and they have virtual independence and are considered a priveldged group, were they pay no taxes have many different grants for college, and are filthy rich by run casinos in their reservations.
Also vivet perhaps in the summer of 1999 when the returning Albanians were furious but I thin the fear factor today is exaggerated.

Hello Jelena, nice to see that you are doing well and I hope this question finds you in good spirits and great health, but in 1941 Tito send Miladin Popovic to organize the Albanian communist party and basically swallow Albania into the Yugoslav federation Albania was intended to be the 7th republic but Enver Hoxha’s ideology and Tito’s version of communist utopia differed. So I never said that Albania was ever part of Yugoslavia but Yugoslavia did have designs on Albania.
Also Jelena the influx of refugees into Greece and other countries is post 1993 once communism collapsed. This is a fact by this time Kosovo was 85% due to natural birth rate, and the Serbs selling their properties to Albanians with hard foreign currency due to the fact many had jobs abroad in Western Europe.
Greeting Goxy, There is no denying Serbia presence in Kosovo. You see I’m a firm believer in the theory that when two entities come in contact with one another both are changed forever no matter how small or brief the contact is. So this is why we are changed Albanians and we want our own country called Kosovo, with a Serb minority in Mitrovica. A multi ethnic Kosovo were the majority rule.

3) Yugoslavia was poor after the war but Albania was poorer, and after Enver Hoxha refused to join Yugoslavia he made it even poorer and they were completely opressed till recently. Albanians in Kosovo and Macedonia and other parts of Yugoslavia were much better off than those in Albania.
4) If Kosovo gains independence the rights of minorities should be taken care of
5) Solution country for the Kosovo would be an independent country with shared power
6) Serbia is like Nokia phones: with every year it gets smaller
7) The whole partition thing and wars in Balkan is stupid. All the people of Balkan should unite and compete in the global world. The people who benefit from all the conflicts are neither Serbs nor Albanians nor any other Balkan people but Westerners who hang around Balkan like vultures. The problem of Balkan people is that they like to live in past and don’t look into future.

9) Balkan gangsters are world’s top class, they’re taking over the entire European underground scene. When it comes to drug and weapon trade Albanians, Serbs, Bosnians, Slovenes, Croats, Yugoslavian Turks, Macedonians and Montenegrins don’t mind to cooperate, so why can’t we do this in other fields too, not just crime?

Kosovo and Metohija was always part of Serbia.
Serbs were there and monasteries were there and we lived in peace before Albania came with it’s dream about greater Albania.
Serbian houses are burned down and Serbs live in terror in Kosovo right now! They are thrown out from their homes, so who "does not want it’s inhabitants and if left unchecked it deport all of them illegally by force and this why the have no international support for their cause or sympathy."

Kosovo Albanians were/are privileged , they avoid taxes , have grants for college ( when I was studying with them outside ex-Yu their grant from Kosovo was higher than western students grants), are filthy rich by white slavery, drug cartels, cigarette business, covered by UN forces by giving them a fair share.

1.)Not true.Kosovo was actually always Serbian ground.For example an English map from 814. clearly shows Serbian state stretching over Kosovo,while Albania is somewhere in southern Caucasus.Kosovo was lost to the Byzanine empire later but returned and ever since 1190. was Serbian teritory.When Ottomans occupied Serbia,they also ocupied Kosovo of course and during that period Albanians started to come to Kosovo.Kosovo was finally liberated from Ottomans during 1912. Balkan war.
2.)Again not true.Albanians DID come to Kosovo in great numbers during WW2.Proof:Before ww2 half of Kosovo population was Serbian and half Albanian,after ww2,60% of Kosovo was Albanian.The Balists (pro Nazi Albanian ww2 force) actually committed genocide over Serbs and forced them to go from Kosovo,just as KLA did during 1999.

The only propagandist here is you, obviously. 90% of your questions and answers here are about the Serbs, and the most of them are very rude and hatred towards us.
I expected at least something relevant in this long post.
1. Albanians were natives on Kosovo? According to which document? When they are mentioned as Albanians for the first time?
2. You are right about mass exodus. Albanian majority on Kosovo is due to very high natality, only in ex Yugoslavia Albanians had the highest natality rate. Such high rate is inversely proportional to education, literacy, personal hygiene, women’s rights, poverty and general well-being of one society, which means that you don’t have much to be proud of, but that is another subject. And there was illegal crossing of the border too, all the time.
3. It’s evident which country was better to live in, even today after civil war in ex-Yu. Only Bosnia and Herzegovina last week arrested 15 albanians from Kosovo and Albania both, and they will be deported to country of origin. Illegal workers from Albania come even to Bosnia, not to mention Greece than.
Albania never was = Serbia or ex Yugoslavia, not even after WW II, not today, when it comes to economy or culture or anything at all.

I needn’t even read your question, such is your bias.
It is true that Kosovo has no precedent, but only in the sense that every dispute is a case for itself, nothing more. Why do you find it so difficult to understand that Kosovo and Metohija is Serbian land; can’t you read the signs of our presence there in our churches, monasteries, holy places of worship?
Comparing Albania and Yugoslavia after WWII and saying Albanians had no reason to move to Kosovo is a joke and you know it. Even if you are under 20, this is common knowledge, that Yugoslavia was two centuries ahead of Albania, so give us a break and start talking sense. Otherwise, there’s really no point in contradicting your statements, cause they’re hilarious.
@AQ: You’re trying to tar everybody with the same brush, well, it won’t work! It’s the Albanians who are the top crimos, not all of the people you mentioned. And you needn’t teach the Serbs how to make babies; if you’re not sure we can do it – pay us a visit and see for yourself. The argument stands because the situation is nearly the same!
(Kosovo and Metohia or Metohija is the real name of the region. The word Metohia is Greek and it means "land of the monasteries!" That will give you a hint of who owned the land!)
Kosovo is a historical part of Serbia! It is not some unclaimed land that happened to be populated by various populations!
In Kosovo and Metohija the medieval Serbian kingdoms was situated!
The Nemanjić rulers alternatively used both Prizren and Priština as their capitals in the Serbian kingdom!
The oldest document about population (The Dečani Charter from 1330) contained detailed list of households and chartered villages in Metohija and northwestern Albania.
Only 3 of 89 settlements were Albanian, the other being non-Albanian.
Out of the 2,166 farming homesteads and 2,666 houses in cattle-grazing land, 44 were registrated as Albanian (1,8%). Others were registered as Slavic mostly Serbian.
Till 19th century the majority of the population was always Serbian with few minority groups such as Albanians, Serbs, Roma, Turks and even Greeks (mainly merchants).
Today the majority in this Serbian province is Albanian but this certainly dose not give to them the Wright to cut of a part of Serbia simple because they are a majority in that part!
(Here applies the example with New Mexico and California! And it is identical since an area’s majority has changed in the recent year and the majority is now Mexican(Hispanic) Are they entitled to claim independence because they are majority???).
Not to forget that there were war crimes by both sides in the Kosovo war!
At list the Serbian side has already gave a lot from the responsible Serbian war criminals to Hague for international trials.
The Albanians on the other side no only they don’t arrest their war criminal but they consider them as heroes!!!!!!! The majority of the war criminals are now in political positions and most of them are drag Lords! (Fatmir Limaj, Haradin Bala, Isak Musliu and Agim Murtezi,)
Actually the entire Kosovan economy is based in crime!
Kosovo today is considered the crime Capital of Europe.
